親愛的蓋城家庭成員們，大家好!

很遺憾這個暑假我們失去了前蔡校長！我們也看到了家長老師及學生們一起送蔡校長的最後一程。為她對蓋城中文學校的貢獻寫下一個完美的句點。秉持著蔡校長對中文教育的熱忱，我邀請廖玲琪老師一起接下校長及副校長的職務。我們和董事們以及各位家長將並肩合作，繼續堅持前蔡校長的精神，一起為孩子們創造一個快樂的中文學習環境！

一開學看到學生及家長們又熱熱鬧鬧地走進校園，大家似乎都有說不完的話！更高興看到許多新的大小朋友加入我們的陣容！不管你準備好了沒，這繽紛熱鬧的一年就這麼開始了！課外活動在第二週就正式開始！我們希望有百分之百的課外活動參加率！希望所有的家長配合並且一起來玩！我會不定時廣告所有的活動！中秋烤肉，特別演講，節慶小禮物手工教室等等。歡迎大家提供意見並且一起參加！

在這個新的一個學年度，我們希望有百分之百的家長參與率！為什麼？因為小孩很快就會長大了！一起陪他們唸中文，一起玩的日子只會越來越少！如果您過去幾年錯過了！那就更不能等了！大家一起加入蓋城的義工！把握良機！陪孩子一起創造一個快樂的回憶！

另外，僑務委員會遴派之美加地區「104年國慶文化訪問團」，訂於10月4日（星期日）晚間7時在馬州蓋城Gaithersburg High School （101 Education Blvd., Gaithersburg, MD 20877）大禮堂演出。本年僑委會特別邀請文化部「國家品牌」表演團隊「明華園戲劇總團」擔綱，並以「英雄 佳人」為主題，演出「鴛鴦槍」及「護國將軍」等2齣文、武戲劇，將擁有百年歷史的臺灣傳統戲曲「歌仔戲」，以最精緻、最優美的面貌呈現給海外僑胞，並藉此向國際友人宣揚臺灣優質文創實力，感受中華民國國慶普天同慶的歡樂氣氛。我有十張票，每張US$10。 有興趣者請跟我索購。

Dear  GCS family members,

We are very sorry that we lost former GCS Principal, Mrs. Hueling Tsai Evans, over the summer. However, it is comforting to see so many current and former GCS parents, teachers, and students attended her memorial to celebrate her life and contribution to the GCS community. In order to continue her legacy and dedication on Chinese language education, I decided to take on this challenging but yet very meaningful task to be the GCS Principal and invited Mrs. Ling Chyi Liao to be the Vice Principal. Together, Ling-Chyi, GCS Board members, and I would like work with every parents to create a enjoyable Chinese language learning environment for our students. We hope we will see Principal's Tsai's spirit in Chinese language and culture education continues at the GCS. 

 

I am so grateful to see students and parents returned to GCS last week. Everyone seemed to be so happy to see each other to catch up after a long summer. We are particularly happy to welcome many new students and parents joining GCS family. I am looking forward for yet another exciting school year. The cultural learning activities between 4 and 5 p.m. will start this week (September 20). We are looking forward to 100% participation from all students. We would also like all parents to support such important activities and come to help and participate. Additionally, there are many activities currently under planning, such as mid-autumn picnic, special seminars, holiday craft workshops, and etc. We would love to hear from you as what kind of activities you would like to participate.

 

Time goes by really fast when children are growing up and maturing. Before you know it, they are ready for college and leave home. It is a rewarding experience to be part of your children's life through Chinese learning and culture sharing. It is never too late if you have missed the opportunity to be part of your children's Chinese learning in the past. We would love to have you be here volunteering at GCS or simply come to chat and share your life stories with other parents. We are looking forward to all parents' involvement in the GCS this year. Together, we can create a memorable year for our children and ourselves.

Finally, I have limited number of tickets to go to a Taiwanese traditional opera performance at Gaithersburg High School （101 Education Blvd., Gaithersburg, MD 20877）at 7 pm. on October 4. This performance will have both Chinese and English subtitles. Please let me know if you need tickets. The ticket is $10. First come first serve.
