蓋城大家庭的成員們， 時光飛逝，再過一週，學校就要開學了。本學年的第一天是九月九日。很高興在此歡迎您及您的孩子們回到學校，相信大家都有個愉快的暑假！ 新學年度的開始，有些事要向諸位宣佈，請注意下列事項： 註冊：請儘早在開學前註冊，以方便學校作業。註冊單及相關資訊，請上學校網站查詢(www.gcs-md.org)，或與我連絡principal@gcs-md.org。 http://www.gcs-md.org/document/forms 上課時間：從第二週起，下午兩點有兩堂語文課 (2 – 4pm)，接著另有一堂語文延伸課，那是從四點到五點。 新家長會：9/23/2012 14:10這是讓新加入蓋城的新成員，有機會了解學校的運作，及學生的權利與義務。希望能見到所有的新家長。 全校家長會：9/30/2012 14:10由董事會及校長報告學校的現況及展望，並聽取家長們的建議及回答疑問。希望能見到您。 安全考量：請勿將貴子弟，於一點四十五分前，送到學校教室，因為沒有老師或家長照護。請務必關照貴子弟，若於兩點前到校，請至餐廳集合，待上課鈴響，再進入教室。謝謝您的合作。 語文延伸課 : 基於學校開放時間的限制，今年語文延伸課程將會有些許改變。 就讀下列三個課程的同學，一定要在指定的日期，參加這些課程。 09/16/2012 - 11/11/2012. 文化知識及網路導覽練習 - 高班同學 11/18/2012 - 02/17/2013. 中文打字進階班 - 華六班同學 02/24/2013 - 05/12/2013. 中文打字初級班 - 華五班同學 其他不在上列三個課程/時段的同學，可以自己選擇參加下列其中一項課程。這項選擇將會整學期有效，同學們不得在學期中，隨易更換項目。 民族舞蹈 各項棋類 書法、國畫 籃球 羽毛球（需自配球拍及球） 電影欣賞 （限七年級以上同學） 看卡通學中文 （適合低年級） 同學也可以選擇不參加語文延伸課程。基於安全考量，不參加的同學必須由家長在四點時帶離學校。 所有語文延伸課程和所有課外活動都會在四點五十分結束。請家長們務必在五點整，準時將同學們帶回。 相信我們會有一個成功的學年！僅祝闔家平安
Dear GCS members, Amazingly, the start of a new school year is just a week away, with the first day of school being Sunday, 9th of September, 2012! It is my pleasure to officially welcome you and your children “back to school.” I hope that everyone in the GCS community had a wonderful summer vacation. The start of every school year always brings about changes and reminders about certain routines. This year is no different. In order for the school year to begin in a safe and organized manner for all GCS students, it is important to be aware of the following events and procedures: First Day of School: The 2012 fall semester of Gaithersburg Chinese School will begin on the 9th of September, 2012. Please arrive at school on time for the classes starting at 2:00 pm. A brief opening ceremony will be held at the Cafeteria from 2:00-2:10 pm. The first day of school will be dismissed at 4pm. Registration: In order to waive the registration fee, please register before the school starts. Registration form and information can be downloaded from the school web site (www.gcs-md.org). For inquiry, please email me principal@gcs-md.org or call 301-519-1777 and leave your message. http://www.gcs-md.org/document/forms Class Schedule: From 9/16/12, school starts at 2pm with two language classes and extracurricular class that run from 4 to 5pm. New Parent Orientation: 9/23/12 14:10 New parent orientation at school, this is for all new parents to learn how GCS run and GCS families rights and obligation. Hope to see all new parents. Parent Meeting: 9/30/12 14:10 Parent meeting at school cafeteria. We will hold a parent meeting to report you the current progress and future direction of school from Board members and principal. We will listen your suggestions as well as answer your questions. Hope to see all parents.
Safety consideration: For safety reasons, students should not arrive before 1:45pm because there is no adult supervision available before that time. Upon arrival, the students should proceed to the cafeteria. At 2pm, the children will be dismissed to their classrooms. Extracurricular class: Due to the new school hours, the EA class will have some adjustment. For the following three classes, the assigned students must attend the class during the period as indicated. 09/16/2012 - 11/11/2012. Culture tour guide Training - High School Class 11/18/2012 - 02/17/2013. Advance Chinese Typing - 6th Grade class 02/24/2013 - 05/12/2013. Basic Chinese Typing - 5th Grade class For students not in the above class/period, they may select a class from the list below to participate. The selection will be good for a semester. The student will not allow switching to another class during the semester
Student may choose not participate the EA class. Concerning the student safety, the parents have to take the students out of school at 4:00 PM. All EA classes will be dismissed at 4:50 PM. All parents should take their kids back before 5:00 PM. I look forward to seeing you around the school. It is going to be a great school year!
